It was a joy to officiate Michael and Sophie's wedding at the enchanting Brandfontein, a picturesque family farm where two oceans meet at the southern tip of Africa. This stunning location provided a perfect backdrop for a day filled with love, laughter, unforgettable moments and 'canvassed living' for all the guests. Having been friends with Michael for nearly 20 years, it was a joy to celebrate his union with Soph, his college sweetheart!

Who did I marry?

Michael and Sophie are truly a match made in heaven. Michael has a passion for gardening, running, and cooking and is known for his warm, laid-back, ZA/Aussie personality and his knack for making everyone around him feel welcome.

Sophie is a British dynamo with a brilliant mind and a heart full of kindness, brings a radiant energy to everything she does. Together, they complement each other perfectly, creating a bond that is both inspiring and heartwarming.

My favourite part of the ceremony

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the Celtic handfasting ritual, which beautifully symbolised the unity of Michael and Sophie’s lives. The handfasting cord, adorned with threads of different colours, reflecting different values The blue cord represented fidelity, strength, and longevity, emphasising their commitment to a faithful and enduring bond. Gold symbolised wealth, prosperity, and unity, highlighting their shared future filled with mutual support and success. The silver thread stood for creativity, inspiration, and wisdom, underscoring the dynamic and thoughtful nature of their partnership. Finally, the two white cords embodied truth, peace, and serenity, representing the tranquility and honesty they bring into each other’s lives.
