I have had the immense pleasure of knowing Robin and Kavya for a while. Robbie was my best work mate and I was there when he first came into the office, gushing about 'the most amazing woman' he'd been on a date with the night before. Witnessing and being part of their union was a truly special experience. Set against the stunning backdrop of Zonzo Estate, the ceremony was a unique blend of Western and Hindu traditions, reflecting the beautiful fusion of their backgrounds. As the ceremony began, the sun dipped lower, casting a golden hue over the festivities. We were all immersed in a celebration that honoured both cultures and their deep, shared love.
Who did I marry?
Robin is a charming and thoughtful individual whose warmth and humour make him a joy to be around. With his genuine nature and loving heart, he brings a sense of ease and joy wherever he goes.
Kavya, on the other hand, is vibrant and compassionate, her spirit as radiant as her smile. She is deeply kind and incredibly supportive, traits that complement Robin’s steady presence perfectly. Together, they embody a rare and deep connection, thriving on each other’s strengths and shared passions.
Their journey together began with an unforgettable first date—Robin, arriving fashionably late and with a broken collarbone, while Kavya, initially uncertain, soon discovered she was with someone truly special. Their relationship has blossomed beautifully since then, marked by their shared love of travel, their cherished dog George, and their effortless connection.
My favourite part of the ceremony
One of my favorite moments from the ceremony was the harmonious blend of Hindu and Western traditions. The ritualistic beauty of the Hindu ceremony, followed by the heartfelt Western vows and ring exchange, perfectly symbolized their union. The highlight for me was the moment when Kavya and Robin exchanged their vows, with Kavya calling Robin "Darrling" in that endearing way that only deepens the affection felt in the room. It was a true testament to their love, and a reminder of how beautifully diverse and interconnected our lives can be.
Although the 'western side' the ceremony that I conducted was only 10 minutes long (compared to the stunning 40 minute Hindu ceremony), my favourite line would have to be this:
"Soon the man of the hour (Robbie) will be joining us at the altar as we kick off the first part of our ceremony here today, which will be in two parts; first, a traditional Hindu ceremony where special rituals are performed to bless the couple, remove obstacles, symbolise commitment to each other and wish them a joyful marriage moving forward, followed by a shorter Western ceremony where vows of love are spoken and rings exchanged. Basically, he (the priest) is love, and I am admin."
